‘Networking for Writers’ by Lizzie Chantree

*****

NB This post first apeared on the Blog Tour for ‘Networking for Writers’ via Rachel’s Random Resources.

From new authors to those more experienced, this book tackles one of those subjects many writers shy away from – talking to other people. Putting yourself out there can be a scary prospect and knowing how to make new contacts and boost sales is vital if you hope to ever make a living from writing.

I was given the paperback copy of this book by the author (cheers, Lizzie), though I also bought the eBook, as the text size is a little too small for easy reading. Packed with really useful info about social media, online groups and how to make best use of them, I was surprised to find I learned quite a lot. As well as highlighting the many apps and sites that can be valuable to authors, Lizzie Chantree explains how to make the best use of them, such as how to lay out Pin titles on Pinterest and which apps to use to create eye-catching images (like Book Brush, which I hadn’t come across before).

Though most would-be authors will know about things like Facebook Groups, it can be difficult to know what to do once you join a new group. Networking for Writers highlights how to create interesting content that isn’t just the author telling people to buy their book! She also explains the differences between personal and business profiles and the importance of responding in the right way to visitor comments.

All in all, this a great little book that will be invaluable to anyone who wants to grow their reading audience and, of course, make more money.
