‘A Wanted Man’ by Lee Child

My Review (5 stars out of 5)

Sporting a newly busted nose, Jack Reacher isn’t hopeful of hitching a ride in Nebraska, but eventually, one car does stop. Though the three passengers—two men and a woman—have believable explanations for their journey and their slightly strange outfits, Reacher soon finds himself picking holes in their account. And that’s when the trouble starts.

This is book 17 in the Reacher series and it’s a good one. I loved the mystery that takes up the first part of the book and how our lanky hero works out what might be going on. With all Lee Child’s books there’s a certain amount of mystery and a certain amount of action but undoubtedly some are more readable than others. This is one of the best ones I’ve read so far and kept me hooked all the way through (in fact I read it over two days). I know some readers have found the book a bit boring but for me it encapsulates what Reacher’s all about. That fact that you never quite know what’s going on is part of the thrill and why I’m still buying the books.

An excellent mystery with enough action to keep Reacher fans happy.

I do think this is one of his best so far (though I know some fans didn’t care for it).
