‘Two Eyes for an Eye’ by David Six

My Review (4 stars out of 5)

When a killer begins poisoning people in Santa Mariana, Frank Bruno is forced to return from his sojourn in Barstow, CA.  A frenzied call from his pal Jaje sends him speeding to the hospital to see his old running mate Rita “Sally” Salvanian, before checking back in at his garage home to find Jaje has given the place an interesting makeover. But Bruno has other things to deal with that demand his attention. As the Feds get to work, it soon becomes clear that someone is trying to make a serious point and until the authorities start to listen, the people of Santa Mariana will keep dying…

Two Eyes for an Eye is book 3 in the Bruno & Salvanian thriller series. Although it’s part of a series it’d probably work as a standalone too, though the backstory is useful to know about. As with the other books, the narrative is a little more drawn-out than I’d like, but once the story got going there was plenty to keep me interested. The relationships between the characters are more developed in this one and there’s a nice line in humour to keep the whole thing from getting mired in death and destruction.

A clever and witty thriller from this talented writer.

Hi Colin, this book has a fascinating title. Very chilling and Biblical.
